Self-Love, The Most Important Relationship
My children have and will always be my number one priority. With time however, I have learned that in order to be that source of love and light, I also need self-care and love. That could mean picking up the phone and having a heart-heart with a friend or running to my mom’s and having a cup of tea or even just picking up a book and reading it. We all need time to ourselves and it is so easy to lose yourself when you have a billion things to do as a mother. A few things I have learned to let go, a sink full of dishes, because it is never ending. A scattered playroom, or a laundry room filled with clothes that need washing. Yes, it is important to get these things taken care of when your kids are napping but it is also essential to do things for yourself. Think about the common rule when you’re flying. “You must put on your own oxygen mask before you help others. If you cannot breathe, how can you help others?” In order to be the best version of yourself to the little ones, you need to make yourself a priority too. Just think, when those little munchkins are up again after their nap, their back to terrorizing everything you just cleaned!
